Complete Guide to the USA F-1 Student Visa Process

What is an F-1 Student Visa?

The F-1 Visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows international students to study full-time at accredited educational institutions in the United States. This includes universities, colleges, high schools, private elementary schools, seminaries, conservatories, and language training programs.

If you plan to pursue academic studies in the USA, obtaining an F-1 visa is one of the most important steps in your journey.

Step 1: Send your documents for a FREE detail eligibility check; if accepted, we will process admission into an SEVP-approved school.

Before applying for an F-1 visa, you must receive admission from a school approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Common Admission Requirements

  • All Educational Academic transcripts

  • English proficiency test scores (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Duolingo, depending on the institution)

  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  • Letters of Recommendation (LORs)

  • Passport copy

  • Financial documents

Once accepted, the institution will issue your Form I-20.

Step 2: Receive Form I-20

The Form I-20, officially called the “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” is issued by your university or school.

The I-20 contains:

  • Student SEVIS ID Number

  • Program start and end dates

  • Estimated cost of attendance

  • Personal information

  • School information

Review all details carefully before proceeding.
