Canada Family Visas - Sponsorship Visa 2024

Canada’s Family Visa program offers a special pathway for Canadian permanent residents and citizens to sponsor their family members, including parents, spouses, and children, to join them in Canada. This initiative promotes family reunification with streamlined requirements and swift processing, allowing families to reunite through the Canada PR Visa.

Canada Family Sponsorship for Parents or Grandparents

Under Canada’s Parents Visa, Canadian citizens and PR holders can sponsor their parents or grandparents for Canadian permanent residency:

  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • The sponsor (child or grandchild) must be a Canadian PR holder or citizen.
    • The sponsor must be at least 18 years old.
    • The sponsor must have sufficient funds (minimum CAD 43,082) to support the parents or grandparents.
    • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) application.
    • Invitations to apply will be issued by the Canadian government from the EOI pool.

Canada Super Visa: An additional option for parents and grandparents, the Super Visa is a 10-year multiple-entry visa that allows stays of up to five years at a time, providing flexibility for extended visits to family in Canada.

Canada Family Sponsorship for Spouse

If your spouse is a Canadian PR holder or citizen, you may qualify for a Canada Spouse Visa and PR through the family sponsorship program:

  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • The sponsor must be a Canadian citizen or PR holder.
    • The sponsor and spouse must maintain a legally recognized marital status.
    • There is no minimum income requirement, but sufficient funds must be demonstrated.
    • Both the sponsor and dependent must submit their applications together.

Canada Family Sponsorship for Dependent Child

Canada allows Canadian citizens and PR holders to sponsor their dependent children for Canadian permanent residency:

  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • Dependent children must be under 22 years old and unmarried.
    • If the child is over 22, they must be financially dependent on the sponsor or require mental or physical care.
    • A valid relationship between the sponsor and the child must be demonstrated.
